Rama-Tut is actually Nathaniel Richards, supposedly a descendant of Doctor Doom from the 30th Century. He stole a time machine built by his ancestor and traveled to the future to steal yet more technology, but was attacked by a powerful foe. In desperation, he activated the time engines and fled into the past.

His ship crashed in ancient Egypt, prior to the building of the pyramids, and he rapidly conquered the “primitive” natives. Styling himself Pharaoh Rama-Tut, Richards became a despotic ruler over the Two Kingdoms for almost forty years before being overthrown by the combined efforts of the Fantastic Four, the Midwest Avengers, and a local rebel group led by a mutant called En Sabah Nur.
